Minimal Technika

Minimal or the New York Hypnotic School has been around since the 1960's. This form of music has a zen like quality. Like a balancing act , minimal music is all about the positive and negative, sound and no sound. It is here and it isn't here. How would you know that a sound is there if there wasn't anything at all before.

That's what minimal music is... it's there and then it isn't.

Minimal techno came later in Detroit during the hay days of the underground rave movement in the 90's. Still abiding by the zen like nature, this form of minimal took apart a already striped down form of music and made it more pliable to ambient and hard techno fans.

Telegraphy, in his latest E.P. "Minimal Technika", explores this sub genera with fresh ears. Using vintage 1990's techniques (analog drum machins and synthesizers along with various modified DJing equipment) creates a vintage feel that is homage to those innovators of Minimal Techno.

Telegraphy - Patterson Park (video)

video and music by: Telegraphy

A single point of light in space has a infinite number of light paths it can travel. This is the general theory of how scientist explain light in a three dimensional environment. This example can be taken literally when applying it to a terrestrial landscape, a landscape fill with infinite possibility of color, texture and shape.

Telegraphy's "Patterson Park", one of three tracks on his "Spiricom" album, compiles infinite landscapes from a single point of light. This ten minute video is a series of flowers and plants under the influence of said light. Captured at night, the sweeping flash light exposes unseen forms and textures that is only visible with a single point of light.
